Banner University Medical Center and the Transplant Surgery team are seeking a Neuropsychologist to join our integrated team and comprehensively serve patients receiving the gift of an organ transplant.

Receiving an organ transplant is a positive, life‑changing event that is often coupled with varied emotions for patients and their loved ones. If you have a passion for assisting patients through life‑changing events, please consider this position. Working in collaboration with the Transplant Institute, the Neuropsychologist will conduct pre‑surgical evaluations, provide follow‑up care for post‑surgical challenges, and partner with the integrated transplant sub‑teams to deliver excellent care while improving the quality of life for our patients and their families.

Clinical Responsibilities

Conduct pre‑surgical evaluations for the transplant surgery team.

Provide follow‑up care for patients who experience challenges post‑surgery.

Partner with integrated transplant sub‑teams to deliver excellent care and improve quality of life.

Provide comprehensive psychological services to transplant recipients, living donors, and their families.

Conduct out‑patient and in‑patient clinical consultations.

Offer patient and family therapy on illness understanding, emotional adaptation, adherence to medical regimens, etc.

Collaborate during team meetings and multidisciplinary conferences regarding transplant listing decisions and patient management strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Screen for substance abuse or dependence and facilitate treatment.

Screen for psychiatric issues and facilitate treatment.

Screen for health literacy and cognitive impairments.

Review and mobilize family support and other resources.

Evaluate candidates for transplant or MCS candidacy to optimize compliance and effectiveness.

Provide brief, evidence‑based treatment to improve patient satisfaction and cost‑effectiveness.

Manage psychopathology and substance abuse risk.

Assess motivation to improve, barriers to optimal compliance, and stage of change.

Work collaboratively with MSW to develop comprehensive mental health plans for candidates.

Provide input to the transplant & MCS teams regarding candidate risk for recidivism and non‑adherence.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Psychology with specialization in Neuropsychology.

Completed an APA‑accredited clinical internship.

Licensure by applicable state Board of Psychologists.

New graduates and experienced neuropsychologists are encouraged to apply.
