Overview

The Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) reports directly to the facility Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and works with the AVP of Nursing Education and the System Chief Nursing Officer. The CNE functions as educator, facilitator, consultant, change agent, and leader and participates in the development of standardized facility educational initiatives as well as initiatives across Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH). The CNE plays a vital role in leading change to improve nursing practice and professional development. The CNE promotes a positive image and maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers. The CNE may be required to travel to other ARH facilities to provide education, under the direction of the facility CNO, AVP of Nursing Education, and/or System Chief Nursing Officer. Responsibilities

Conduct educational needs assessments using a variety of methods/tools. Incorporate principles of adult learning in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, creating a climate that supports learning across the organization. Coordinate and facilitate nursing orientation and competency evaluation of new staff, and training/education for new equipment and revised clinical care policies and protocols. Develop and deliver evidence‑based educational programs and offerings. Utilize best practices in educational content delivery. Collaborate with community Chief Nursing Officer, local nursing leadership, and other disciplines to create a robust educational environment while fostering teambuilding and leadership development. Provide point‑of‑care assistance and support to nursing staff with clinical skills development and critical thinking. Evaluate effectiveness of educational programs using best practices. Utilize a variety of evidence‑based instructional techniques. Adjust educational content and teaching strategies based on learner needs, using various media and formats. Collaborate with and support all ARH facilities in developing and delivering educational programs as determined by the facility CNO and/or AVP Nursing Education and Professional Practice. Assume ownership and responsibility in attaining, developing, and maintaining educational and instructional expertise. Facilitate centralized nursing orientation. Oversee onboarding of student nurses and clinical faculty to assure adherence to ARH and regulatory guidelines. Oversee compliance with the Nurse Extern Program in collaboration with Nursing Leadership, Human Resources, and applicable Schools of Nursing. Respond to changes in nursing practice and develop programs to support these changes. Ensure that educational programs are congruent with organizational missions, values, and goals. Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree BSN required or plan to obtain within 2 years. Master's Degree in Nursing or Education preferred. 1–3 years nursing experience required; 4–6 years preferred. Minimum of 1 year nursing education experience required; 3 or more preferred. BLS Instructor designation with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. ACLS Instructor designation with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. PALS Instructor designation with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. De‑Escalation Instructor designation with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. TNCC Instructor designation with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. Other instructor designations as needed with a minimal requirement of teaching two courses annually. Professional certification required or plan to obtain within 2 years of employment. BLS required upon hire. ACLS required within 6 months of employment. PALS required within 6 months of employment. TNCC required within 1 year. De‑escalation training (ARH adopted) required within 6 months. Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of KY or WV dependent on residency.
