Founded in 1982, Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center is a 167‑bed community hospital located in beautiful Southern California. The facility offers a full spectrum of acute care services, including general medical/surgical inpatient care, critical care, emergency services, orthopedics, maternity care, and wound care. Responsibilities Each individual performs only those waived, moderate, or highly complex tests authorized by CA, Bus. & Prof. Code (Sections 1206.5 (a)(b)(c), 1261, 1210, 1269, 1260.3, 17 CFR 1031 (b) (1‑5), 17 CFR 1032.5) and must possess a degree of skill commensurate with education, training, or experience. Responsibilities include:
Adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for the collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of patient test results.
Follow the laboratory’s quality control policies and document corrective actions when test systems deviate from performance specifications.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance and take corrective action or report immediately to the supervisor, Director, or Medical Director.
Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and any other disciplines introduced into the laboratory.
Perform and document routine maintenance—daily, weekly, monthly—as required for instruments and equipment.
Review the accuracy of patient results before releasing or reporting.
Recognize age‑specific differences in expected results for newborns through geriatrics.
Ensure proficiency testing samples are handled identically to patient samples and report results to appropriate agencies.
Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture across all age groups as needed.
Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.
Adhere to all department and hospital policies related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
Serve as General Supervisor of a section or department during shifts, and may handle responsibilities related to LIS and/or POC.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the department manager/director.
Qualifications
Requires two years of clinical laboratory work experience covering all areas of a clinical laboratory.
Bachelor’s Degree in biological science, chemistry, physics, biology, laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in California Code of Registration.
Current and valid California State License.
Pay Transparency Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center offers competitive compensation. The current compensation range for this role is $58.50 per hour. Benefits may vary based on the collective bargaining agreement requirements and the employment status. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of selection and will consider factors such as skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
