Rotating (United States of America). This role is Non‑Exempt and part of the growing BILH team, making a difference in patients’ lives.

Job Summary Prepares sterile and non‑sterile medications, communicates with Pharmacists and Nursing Staff to ensure timely preparation and delivery of medications, and delivers medications—including controlled substances—to nursing areas and ancillary departments in accordance with established policies and DEA/DPP regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

Restocks floor stock/automated dispensing machines and enters charges/credits against patient profiles to ensure accurate billing.

Monitors medication order reports to assign medication to an automated dispensing machine; delivers all medication in compliance with DEA, DPH, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP 797 & USP 800 standards; maintains records for IV admixtures and ensures sterile area cleanliness.

Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit‑of‑use packaging and composes non‑sterile compounds in accordance with USP 795 & USP 800 standards.

Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy and automated dispensing cabinets; disposes of expired/damaged medication in accordance with RCRA, OSHA, and NIOSH regulations.

Prepares specialized sterile products—including TPNs, neonatal, hazardous, chemotherapeutic, and study medications—in accordance with USP 797 standards.

Maintains staffing coverage in two or more areas of the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma or GED.

License as a Massachusetts Registered Pharmacy Technician (registration requires 500–1000 hours and a passing score of 75% on the board exam).

0–1 year of related work experience.

Registration must be in good standing with the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy.

Proficiency with computer systems, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Preferred Qualifications

Three to six months experience as a hospital pharmacy technician.

Ability to perform simple and complex pharmaceutical calculations.

Customer Service: Provide high‑level customer service and training, resolving service issues promptly and respectfully.

Physical Nature of the Job Light work: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Requires standing for periods of time and walking throughout the hospital campus.
