Why you want this job The Merchandising Analyst / Associate partners with Data & Analytics, Merchandising, and cross-functional teams to drive business performance through actionable insights, demand planning, and inventory optimization. This role is responsible for analyzing sales, pricing, and inventory trends, developing forecasts, and supporting strategic decision-making to advance merchandising KPIs.
What you’ll do
Data Analysis & Reporting
Partner with Data and Analytics teams to establish clear, concise dashboards that track key merchandising metrics and provide insight into business performance and the impact of Merchandising team actions
Monitor sales performance and trends; identify opportunities and challenges and recommend actions to improve merchandising KPIs and business performance
Create and maintain detailed reports and dashboards to track KPIs related to sales, inventory, and demand planning
Demand Planning & Forecasting
Analyze sales trends, historical data, and market conditions to develop accurate demand forecasts for the product assortment and coordinate with Purchasing to enable them to execute product orders and ensure uninterrupted supply
Create SKU-level sales projections and work with Purchasing to establish and maintain in-stock % targets while streamlining carrying costs
Define, create, and update weekly inventory thresholds for programs such as In-Home Try-On (IHTO)
Inventory & Margin Optimization
Ensure optimal inventory levels to meet in-stock goals for both sellable and try-on products, while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
Partner with the Director of Merchandising to establish an obsolete budget and manage frame inventory and sell-through to hit budget targets
Create visibility into discontinued, slow-moving, or obsolete products and develop solutions for potential inventory risks
Work closely with Operations to manage end-of-life product transitions and free up shelf space for new inventory
Assist in developing overarching pricing strategies based on demand, competition, and market conditions to maximize profitability
Analyze pricing and gross margin; design and execute price tests to identify opportunities and optimize frame and lens retail pricing
Help establish budget targets AOS, gross margin, and COGs and identify and facilitate changes the drive improvements and hit targets
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with marketing, supply chain, and product development teams to align demand forecasts with marketing campaigns, new product launches, and promotional activities
Work with the merchandising team to curate and optimize the product assortment, ensuring a compelling and relevant product mix for customers
Conduct purchase trend analysis for promotional sales periods and new product launches
What you’ll need
Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Tableau, and SQL
Experience in merchandising, demand planning, or inventory management, preferably in e-commerce or retail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work cross-functionally
Detail‑oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities
Knowledge of the eyewear industry or fashion retail is a plus.
