USPI Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio is seeking a motivated Business Office Clerk to join our team. We have 20 private suites and 5 OR rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in Bariatric, Orthopedic, General, Neuro/Spine, ENT, Pain, and Urology. Responsibilities

Interfaces with visitors, patients, family, and physicians on phone and in person; performs clerical duties involved with admissions and assists with patient check‑in. Copies identification and insurance documents. Verifies insurance, enters and verifies all patient demographics and billing information. Collects balances due at time of admission. Processes patient and insurance payments, provides financial counseling, and prepares daily reports, registers ER charts, and surgery cost estimates. Ensures Electronic Medical Records are accurate, complete, and concise for data users. Prepares, scans, and analyzes medical records. Troubleshoots all documentation issues. Releases information (fax, phone, or mail) for all patient types following hospital policies, state privacy laws, and HIPAA. Answers phones. Uses computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Maintains quality review of medical records. Maintains integrity of scanned records. Audits Electronic Health Records. Assists the director with problem areas as needed. Reviews and creates policies and procedures. Interacts with nurses and physicians for record completion. Retrieves storage charts as needed. Provides flexibility to help with any health‑information related task. Writes deficiency/delinquent letters regarding incomplete medical records of discharged patients to responsible physicians, following staff regulations. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, Business Office Manager, or CFO. Required Skills

High school graduate or equivalent. At least 1 year of insurance verification experience. Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of routine office procedures and equipment. Computer proficiency helpful. Relevant work experience helpful. Excellent written and verbal English communication, accurate spelling, and neat legible handwriting. Typing speed of 45 words per minute or more. Understanding of the confidential nature of hospital work. Excellent telephone skills. Ability to screen incoming calls and respond appropriately. Responsible for distribution of mail. USPI complies with federal, state, and local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
