Position At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post‑operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room.

Responsibilities

Provide high‑acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures.

Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and readiness for discharge or transfer.

Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing required.

Valid RN license in Connecticut.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.

Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2 or more years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU‑level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills. Training is not available for candidates without this expertise.

BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC).

ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post‑hire).

Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines.

Benefits

Part‑Time – 24 hours/week – Day Shift.

Monday through Friday, no weekend or holiday commitment.

Variable day shift rotations with start times ranging from 5:30 am to 9:00 am.

Shift durations range from 8, 10, and 12 hours, based on unit needs.
