Assembly Technician I Schedule : Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Base Pay Range : $19.00/hr - $22.00/hr

Job Overview Assembly Technicians perform assembly or sub-assembly of aerospace parts using drills, rivet tools, and other hand tools. Technicians verify compliance with customer requirements using calipers, gauges, and other measuring & inspection tools. Technicians must follow established procedures and work instructions to complete work in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining safe practices and high quality.

Essential Functions

Assembles product per documentation and directions provided

Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, following blueprint station lines and index points; verifies fitting tolerances using measuring instruments such as gauges and calipers

Installs parts and components; may specialize in assembling and installing parts, structural components, and/or subassemblies to build full assemblies and detail parts

Operates hand tools including drills, rivet guns, screwdrivers, etc.; verifies equipment is operating correctly and safely; performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance as appropriate

Locates holes to be drilled in structural assembly for installation of parts and components; using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments; drills, reams, and countersinks holes in subassemblies and installs bolts, rivets, or other fasteners per drawings and work instructions

Utilizes tape measure, mics, calipers, and other gauges to interpret and record part measurements per customer specifications accurately

Visually assesses parts for missing or incomplete operations

Maintains quantities and operation accountability per the manufacturing control plan

Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area

Follows directions consistently and accepts responsibility for actions and work product

Complies with applicable manufacturing processes, work procedures, and supervisor instructions

Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with leadership to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety

Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required

Required Education and Work Experience

High School diploma or GED equivalent is required

Vocational training in a technical/mechanical field is preferred

Six (6) months experience in mechanical assembly or similar production/manufacturing role is preferred

Other Required Skills and Abilities

Experience reading and accurately interpreting shop blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications is required

Experience using precision measuring instruments including mics and calipers is required

Experience using hand tools and instruments such as calipers, height gauges, drills, and rivet guns is required

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, stand for long periods to perform job duties

Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 100 pounds using peer assistance and/or other lifting & material-handling equipment

Occasionally reaches overhead and reaches out or down to perform duties

Frequently climb steps, stairs, or ladders

Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel

Frequently uses hand or fingers to manually inspect parts, tighten hardware & fixtures, and operate tools and material handling controls

Visual acuity to interpret readings on gauges and other measuring devices

Working Conditions

Excessive noise (hearing protection required)

Dust, smoke, mist, fumes/vapors (occasionally)

Extreme temperatures (occasionally)

Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (continually)

The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required. This position is classified as safety-sensitive. This Position Must Meet ITAR (International Traffic In Arms Regulations) Compliance; Qualified Candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (per EAR Part 772 and ITAR 120.15).
