Job Title: EHS Specialist
Compensation: $80K – $90K
We are seeking an experienced EHS Specialist to join our team in Henrico, VA. Reporting to the Site EH&S Manager, this role will partner closely with the Plant Leadership Team to strengthen our culture of safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship. The EHS Engineer will drive initiatives that prevent hazards, ensure regulatory compliance, and build employee engagement in health and safety programs.
Key Responsibilities
Foster a proactive safety culture by identifying, eliminating, and controlling workplace hazards using safety standards, best practices, and behavior-based safety programs.
Lead and support site EHS projects, sustainability initiatives, and compliance reporting.
Serve as a primary resource for the Safety Committee and subcommittees.
Facilitate cross‑functional safety teams and work groups to drive improvements.
Support manufacturing teams with safety awareness, prevention measures, and training.
Assist site management with health and safety program implementation.
Develop, maintain, and deliver training programs and safety information.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and site‑specific regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation and records (accident reports, inspections, training logs, etc.).
Track and report on key EHS performance metrics.
Coordinate and participate in audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Recommend and implement corrective actions from audits and inspections.
Continuously review and improve EHS programs to meet regulatory and corporate standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field (equivalent experience considered).
Minimum 1‑2 years of occupational health and safety experience in an industrial environment (manufacturing or construction preferred).
Certifications in AED, First Aid/CPR, and OSHA standards preferred.
Hands‑on program experience with: Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Machine Safety, Risk Assessments (JHA, JSA, RA), Electrical Safety, Confined Space, Emergency Preparedness, Ergonomics, PPE, Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), Aerial Work Platforms (AWP), Hearing Conservation, Working at Heights, and Incident Analysis tools (Fishbone, 5‑Why).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
