Job Summary Provide overall planning and preparation for the Booth School of Business budget summary data and schedules required by the University as a Local Business Center. Booth has a $500M budget across 40 departments with operations in 3 countries. Responsibilities include strategically managing cash flow, optimizing cash use, cash depositing, preparing and reporting financials and forecasting, gift processing and reporting, grant processing, and general accounting.

Responsibilities

Provide overall planning and preparation for Booth, including budget summary data and schedules required by the University. Includes developing a budgetary strategic plan, budget submission, and monthly forecasting.

Manage financial analysts and accountants for various processing and reporting.

Collaborate with accounting and procurement functions within Booth Finance to improve process and reporting quality.

Serve as lead for MBA programs, research academic centers, and administrative departments, providing planning, processing, reporting, and financial analysis.

Manage departmental endowments/gifts usage and reporting, including endowment and gift accounts.

Verify/certify financial results and market value of endowment accounts over $1.4 billion.

Work with University Financial Services on US and international tax issues and unrelated business income tax.

Manage and oversee Booth gift processing, fundraising reporting, and stewardship reports.

Manage MBA scholarship database, budget, and reporting.

Coordinate with HR on faculty and staff compensation/headcount and budgeting/reporting.

Reengineer accounting policies for institutional mandates in an evolving financial accounting system (Oracle).

Oversee Oracle roles/procedures/policy within Booth Accounting to assist departmental financial administrators.

Manage cash management operations, including Booth’s own bank account.

Oversee faculty research management processes, including discretionary and sponsored awards and collaboration with University Research Administration.

Participate in high-level Booth committees.

Oversee functional business plans and contribute to development of financial goals, strategies, and policies for the unit.

Establish budgets for all areas within scope and direct quarterly and year-end reporting for the operating budget.

Performs other related work as needed.

Qualifications Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 10+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications:

CPA preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

At least ten years of accounting and financial reporting experience.

Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills; strong organizational skills.

Ability to work independently, identify improvement opportunities, and achieve objectives.

Strong strategic planning, analytical, and persuasion abilities.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines with interruptions.

Professional demeanor with tact, discretion, and customer service orientation.

Working Conditions

This position is expected to work a minimum of three days per week in the office.
