About This Role We are looking for a talented engineering manager to provide technical leadership to the Hardware Systems organization to help us build the next generation of silicon photonics based artificial intelligence accelerators and interconnect products. As a Manager, you will be responsible for delivering board and system solutions using Lightmatter’s innovative technology, work closely with our leadership team and program management to understand requirements, program deliverables, and project schedules, and allocate resources needed to design and build leading‑edge system‑level products. You will directly manage a team of electrical engineers in their day‑to‑day activities and provide technical guidance and opportunities for career development.
Responsibilities
Manage a small team of engineers (up to 10) in their day‑to‑day activities designing Lightmatter systems.
Understand the resource requirements of new and existing projects and assign members of the team to contribute to the programs based on individual capabilities and workloads.
Maintain project status and communicate progress, issues, mitigation plans, etc to upper management.
Enforce corporate development processes as appropriate, refining the team design processes for optimal success (understanding processes are not a “one size fits all” philosophy).
Meet with your team collectively and 1:1 to discuss strategy, project updates, and career growth.
Write and present performance reviews; discuss strengths, weaknesses and areas for improvement.
Technical
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to understand requirements to develop optimal solutions for system designs.
Provide guidance to systems design engineers to ensure the highest quality products.
Review board and system designs to understand technical challenges and overall status in all facets of the system designs including electrical, mechanical, and thermal.
Communicate with other team Technical Leads and Managers to ensure dependencies are understood and milestones are met.
Ensure the board and system are manufacturable to the latest technologies with high yield and robustness.
Manage and work with component vendors and other supply partners.
Research new components, processes, and technologies to meet product goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of 5 years of people management experience.
Experience in electrical board design, having successfully taken several products from concept to production.
In–depth knowledge of VRMs, high‑speed SERDES, CPUs and various interfaces/protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, QSPI, I3C, I2C, etc.
Salary Range Salary Range: total compensation goes beyond base salary, it also includes a new hire equity grant, annual performance‑based equity, and other rewards that recognize your impact and contribution: $220,000 USD - $288,000 USD.
