Senior Manager Engineering – Briggs & Stratton
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Position Description Are you a passionate, technically‑skilled leader eager to make your mark by revolutionizing and reinventing? Briggs & Stratton is looking for a Senior Manager of Engineering to plan and organize the activities of an assigned engineering group. This role leads the development of new Product Engineering, Research and Development, and/or manufacturing technologies, while also driving process improvement initiatives and cost‑reduction programs for both new and existing programs. You will also provide guidance on group objectives and new concepts.
Responsibilities
Motivating and leading a team in product research, design and development for battery management systems by working with various Engineers and Technicians across the company.
Acting as the prime liaison with other departments.
Promoting the New Product Development process and ensuring consistent use.
Maintaining knowledge of regulatory requirements.
Managing customer relations regarding part and product design, manufacturing and quality control issues.
Developing supplier relationships and contributing to supplier identification and selection.
Overseeing the reporting on project status, budget tracking, customer satisfaction and other staff activities.
Directing the spending of development initiatives to support the budget for assigned area(s).
Supporting engineering systems used to ensure quality product design.
Approving strategic business decisions related to product safety initiatives, annual strategic/situational planning, long‑term planning and supplier relationship agreements.
Managing the work of groups of employees (leads through subordinate managers).
Performing other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years’ relevant working experience to include: battery management systems, motor controls, software and construction testing.
Minimum of 3 years managing and leading a team.
Strong project management, supervisory and team building skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering, testing and manufacturing processes related to product.
Advanced understanding of data collection, automation and analysis processes.
Proven ability to effectively solve problems with diverse groups of people.
Strong interpersonal, written communication and problem solving skills to effectively interface with engineers, managers and customers.
Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location.
