Entry Level Responsibilities

Conduct research on protein aggregation with a focus on a-synuclein biology in mice and cell culture models of Parkinson's disease (PD). Investigate hormone- or lipid-dependent changes that affect a-synuclein homeostasis early in Parkinson's pathology. Build on prior work showing that upstream abrogation of normal a-synuclein multimerization induces early motor syndrome and cortical/dopaminergic fiber loss in mutant mice. Generate new models to analyze cell-type specific expression of other familial PD-type a-synuclein mutations. Perform behavioral testing, molecular, biochemical, and neuropathological analyses as part of the project. Qualifications

Early-stage postdoctoral candidates (1–4 years after PhD) with extensive experience working with mice, including biochemistry, histology, and behavioral read-outs. Prior work with primary neurons is preferred. Demonstrated expertise and publications in molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, and animal husbandry are required. Compensation will follow NIH postdoctoral stipend levels. Applicants should submit a cover letter detailing their research experience, a CV, a potential start date, and full contact information for three references. Company
