Position Overview
Consumer Access Specialist PRN at AdventHealth DeLand.
Schedule: PRN (per diem) – Shift: Day. Location: 701 W Plymouth Ave, DeLand, 32720. Category: Patient Financial Services. Organization: AdventHealth DeLand.

Responsibilities
Ensure patients are properly registered for all service lines.
Perform eligibility verification, obtain pre‑certifications and/or authorizations, make financial arrangements, and request/receive payments for services.
Carry out cashiering functions, clear registration errors, edit pre‑bill.
Maintain close working relationships with clinical partners to ensure continual open communication between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments.
Actively participate in extending exemplary service to internal and external customers and maintain respectful relationships.
Provide PBX (switchboard) coverage and support as needed.
Key Value Additions
Proactively seek assistance to improve responsibilities; maintain relationships to enhance patient experience.
Provide timely coverage of assigned work area, ensuring prompt patient service and availability for registration needs; arrange relief coverage when away.
Perform payment management: create accurate estimates to maximize up‑front cash collections and add documentation where required.
Calculate patients’ co‑pays, deductibles, and co‑insurance; provide personalized estimates of financial responsibility based on insurance coverage or government program eligibility before service for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Minimum Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of customer service experience.
