General Summary The Enrollment Strategy Consultant (ESC) will have primary responsibility in three main areas: 1) Engagement with Unum and Colonial Life field partners to offer our consultative support on various enrollment strategies/methods to maximize results in any case. 2) Ensure optimal enrollment experience and outcomes. The ESC will be accountable for managing enroller expectations and delivery of these expectations for supported enrollments. 3) Development of Certified Benefits Counselors through effective data analysis, coaching, training, and performance management. The Enrollment Strategy Consultant must utilize strong technical and analytical skills to assess customer needs and develop solutions based on proven enrollment capabilities through case studies and performance metrics. The role supports the Regional Enrollment Director and is a dedicated point of contact for the client, broker and field throughout the enrollment process.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities Enrollment Strategy Consulting

Act as point of contact for Unum and Colonial Life sales/distribution and Home Office partners to provide consultation and support as a subject matter expert on the Colonial Life and Unum enrollment strategy and capabilities.

Partner with Unum and Colonial Life internal and external sales partners to evaluate sales opportunities from an enrollment perspective and ensure appropriate strategy, expectations and execution of fulfillment of cases.

Promotion and education of enrollment tools and capabilities to internal and external business partners.

Support piloting and implementation of enrollment technology supporting both enrollers and the enrollment process.

Partner with internal business partners to stay up to date on all enrollment tool capabilities and how they can maximize enrollments.

Enrollment Management and Support

Partner with Unum and Colonial Life Home Office and field partners to set realistic expectations of what tools, resources and support can be delivered during enrollments.

Staff and schedule regional enrollments to include staffing of benefits counselors as needed for each location, scheduling of enrollers at each location, and provide support when needed with the account/location contact to set expectations.

Serve as primary liaison between enrollment team and the field, broker and clients.

Ensure accurate and timely receipt of final deliverables required from the enrollment team.

Set customer service expectations for each enrollment with the assigned enrollment team.

Monitor performance of managed enrollments and address issues where appropriate.

and development of 1099 certified benefits counselors and field enrollment partners that fall below enrollment expectations.

Serve as resource during the acquisition phase, re‑enrollment planning, and debrief phase as needed.

Benefits Counselor Quality Control

Formulate a proactive enrollment strategy for each assigned region, territory and district for the purpose of growing Certified Benefits Counselors and Coordinators to expected levels in partnership with territory core teams.

Perform ongoing assessments of Certified Benefits Counselors and Coordinators for the purpose of evaluating their status as an active member.

Lead enrollment strategy development efforts through best practice sharing, enrollment skill development, and additional advanced enrollment skills and support training.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

4 year college degree or equivalent relevant business experience preferred, and/or 5+ years’ experience in sales, insurance, or national accounts.

Strong collaboration skills: a proven ability to partner with cross functional areas and sales managers to achieve results.

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to influence others without direct authority.

Solution oriented and strong negotiator – assertive yet diplomatic.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

"Boardroom Presence" – charismatic/presents good image, good presenting to senior level decision makers/clients, good on their feet, good at presenting in the client’s language.

Ability to manage multiple priorities including tactical and strategic initiatives.

Ability to develop and deliver training including to varied audiences and learning styles including in‑person and virtual methods.

Proven ability to communicate expectations, coach and performance manage.

Organizational credibility and ability to develop relationships quickly.

Background or knowledge in sales, benefits and enrollment process strongly preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook).

Utilize applicable systems (Ceros, AWS, Calendly).

Some travel required (10%).

Salary Range $63,500.00 – $120,000.00
