Provide the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Rocket Lab with Linux System Administration technical support by providing expert-level customer service support for AFRL Linux workstations and clusters through problem remediation detailed within the Web Help Desk (WHD) ticketing system. Expert level support requires an in-depth knowledge of IT concepts, and significant troubleshooting skills gained through experience, certification, and formal training.

Responsibilities
Provide expert-level hardware, software, and network support and troubleshooting on systems running Linux operating systems.
Work directly with vendors and third‑party service providers, tapping into their knowledge base.
Configure and maintain system hardening tools and Security Requirements Guide (SRG) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance.
Develop and maintain software testing framework for Linux software.
Develop and maintain software hosting platform for common software.
Develop robust infrastructure for networked Linux boxes (SSO, LDAP, SAN Access, Common Accounts, shared space, etc.).
Manage firewall rules for high-performance computing clusters (HPC) access; work with the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) office to establish rules for new systems and remove rules for decommissioned systems.
Provide expert support planning, configuring, and installing open‑source software; verify installed software behaves as intended and complies with security guidelines.
Apply Puppet configuration management tools to maintain standard desktop configurations.
Manually install software updates, apply SRG/STIG configurations and security patches as required.
Provide customer service with friendly, courteous, and professional oral and written communication.
Lead Linux Service Delivery Team.
Qualifications
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in system administration and/or technical support.
Expert-level knowledge and experience with all phases of Linux operating systems, hardware, software applications, and networking concepts.
Knowledge and application of Foreman and Puppet configuration tools.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience leading teams.
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
DoD 8140 IAT‑II certification (CompTIA Security+).
DoD Interim Secret security clearance or higher.
