Assistant Director of Preschool & Noah’s Ark Camp Director at the Stoler Early Learning Center is a full-time leadership role responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the preschool and for managing the Noah’s Ark Camp during the summer. The Assistant Director collaborates with the Senior Director to ensure effective operations, staff management (hiring, onboarding, retention), and curriculum oversight. The role focuses on creating a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment rooted in Jewish values and on fostering children’s curiosity, creativity, and growth while aligning with the mission, vision, and goals of J Early Childhood. Key Responsibilities

Program Development and Administration: assist the Senior Director and leadership team in managing daily operations, scheduling, and parent communication; help design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum infused with Jewish values, traditions, and holidays; support teachers in planning and delivering engaging activities; provide ongoing communication with parents; work with the ELC Leadership team to maintain organization of shared spaces; responsible for school opening (7:30am) and closing (5:30pm or last pickup). Staff Management and Development: hiring and onboarding, including recruitment in partnership with marketing, HR, and ELC Leadership; conduct phone screenings and first-round interviews; arrange second-round interviews for the Senior Director; onboard new staff with orientation, licensing guidelines, and ELC policies; conduct weekly check-ins; provide guidance, mentorship, and ongoing performance feedback; model best practices in early childhood education and lesson planning; assist in creating observation templates and keeping resources up to date; organize professional development on licensing, supervision, child safety, and mandated reporting. Family and Community Engagement: collaborate with the Senior Director to foster strong parent relationships and family involvement; represent the preschool at community events and outreach initiatives; work with colleagues, other agencies, and partners to enhance program visibility and enrollment. Noah’s Ark Camp Director (June–August): program oversight to design and implement a summer curriculum that integrates Jewish values and supports development; camper recruitment in partnership with internal and external stakeholders; staff management including hiring, onboarding, training, orientation, and professional development; operations and budget management for Noah’s Ark Camp; communication with parents and campers; community engagement and collaboration with year-round J Camps team. General Responsibilities for all Early Childhood Staff: demonstrate self-awareness, empathy, confidentiality, and professionalism; ensure health and safety of children; maintain a positive, calm presence; promote equitable and consistent treatment of all staff, parents, and children; participate in professional development to meet licensing requirements. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum Development, Special Education, Psychology, Family Studies, or related field (preferred). Minimum 5 years of experience working with young children in an educational or similar environment. Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices; experience with play-based and child-centered learning; constructivist philosophy and project work is a plus. Knowledge of behavior management and effective teaching techniques; proven leadership abilities with experience coaching educators. Familiarity with Jewish cultures and customs or willingness to learn; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational abilities with the ability to multi-task. Proficiency with technology (computers, tablets, Brightwheel Parent Portal, Microsoft Office, Zoom, cameras, and related platforms). CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain/maintain within three months of employment; medical administration certification required. Physical Skills and Work Environment

The work environment is typically loud and fast-paced and requires high energy and positive interactions with staff, families, and community partners. The role involves frequent use of a phone and computer and may entail physical activities such as reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Occasional outdoor work across the campus and willingness to respond to emergencies are expected. Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $60,000 – $70,000 Benefits: The JCC offers a comprehensive package including paid time off, holidays, health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) with employer match, FSA/HSA options, life insurance, long-term disability, complimentary membership, program discounts, and wellbeing programs.
