Director, Bobcat Advising Center (On-site)

A seasoned advising administrator, the Director of the Bobcat Advising Center (BAC) is responsible for the implementation, delivery, and continuous assessment of undergraduate academic advising services for first-year students in every major, undeclared students in every class year, and lower division undeclared transfers. Provides oversight and management of programming and professional academic advising staff with a focus on student success, cross-unit and cross-division collaborations, and professional staff development. Key responsibilities include policy formulation for comprehensive advising experiences, collaboration with campus advising units, enrollment management, faculty, and staff to support student success, and ensuring adherence to campus systems and procedures. May provide academic advising for prospective and current students and arrange referrals to University support services. Key Responsibilities

Academic Advising Strategy and Programming: Lead BAC operations, including staffing, calendar, and budget (~$1 million). Develop and assess a comprehensive advising program, coordinate with campus undergraduate advising directors, serve on the Undergraduate Academic Advising Leadership Team, partner with academic schools to promote programming, identify barriers to progression, and integrate policies into center operations. Staff Supervision & Professional Development: Supervise professional advisors, address complex student issues, develop training, onboarding, and ongoing staff development, provide annual training to partner units, and participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and HR-related decisions. May supervise other non-academic staff. Student Enrollment, Success, and Retention: Collaborate on initiatives that support enrollment, academic success, and persistence; coordinate activities with center staff and campus partners; advise on communication strategies targeting first-year and undeclared students; maintain relationships with campus units to resolve complex cases; support academic actions for undeclared students to remove barriers to degree completion. Campus and System Service: Participate in strategic committees and cross-campus workgroups to inform decisions impacting academic advising. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Advanced degree in Counseling, Higher Education, Student Affairs or related area (preferred). Five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education academic advising, including three years of supervisory experience (required). Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in advising and student support. Knowledge of student information systems (e.g., Banner, MyDegreePath/u.achieve) and related applications; familiarity with university structure and governance. Understanding of current trends in higher education, data-informed decision making, and advising practices for diverse student populations. Ability to interpret policies and degree requirements; strong communication and interpersonal skills; leadership and collaboration abilities; and problem-solving capacity. Adaptability to fast-paced environments and multiple priorities. Background Check: Background check required.
