Job Summary
Senior Director of Principal Gifts is primarily responsible for advancing a donor portfolio of principal gift prospects and donors in the $100,000 – $1,000,000+ range across a variety of areas, particularly Children’s of Mississippi, UMMC schools, institutional giving, and planned giving. The role works closely with the Executive Director of Development to develop, implement, and track strategic philanthropic direction, supervise direct fundraising staff, and leverage patient, alumni, and annual giving contacts to increase overall fundraising.
Education & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree and ten (10) years of progressive supervisory experience, including five (5) years in development, fundraising, charitable giving, or sales.
Preferred Higher educational institutional supervisory experience is strongly preferred. CPA, MBA, or an advanced degree in healthcare or fundraising certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities
Advance a leadership portfolio of donors and prospects from alumni, grateful patients, and friends, in the $50,000 – $1,000,000+ range.
Supervise staff and processes assigned by the Executive Director, providing training and management to advance cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop, implement, and track strategic planning goals.
Coordinate with strategic partnership and special projects teams to move prospects to major gift levels.
Communicate at a leadership level with internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain current and comprehensive donor records, both electronic and hard copy.
Provide leadership as needed to ensure all gift solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship opportunities are realized.
Supervise the execution of tailored gift acknowledgment letters.
Comply with institutional and departmental policies, and help design and implement new development office processes.
