Data Center Build Engineer - Liquid Cooling

role at

TensorWave .

At TensorWave, we’re leading the charge in AI compute, building a versatile cloud platform that’s driving the next generation of AI innovation. We’re focused on creating a foundation that empowers cutting‑edge advancements in intelligent computing.

About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled

Data Center Build Engineer

with specialized expertise in

liquid cooling systems

to lead the deployment of next‑generation cooling infrastructure in high‑density data center environments. This role is critical to supporting the installation and commissioning of advanced cooling technologies—including direct‑to‑chip (D2C) and rear‑door heat exchanger systems—designed to meet the thermal demands of AI workloads.

As a Data Center Build Engineer at TensorWave you will work cross‑functionally with mechanical designers, construction managers, vendors, and operations teams to ensure liquid cooling infrastructure is safely, efficiently, and precisely implemented. You will play a key role in bridging design intent with real‑world installation practices, driving innovation in energy efficiency and thermal management.

This role requires substantial travel to our data centers nationwide.

Responsibilities

Lead the deployment of liquid cooling systems during data center build‑outs and expansions, including D2C loops, cold plate systems, CDUs, and immersion tanks.

Oversee installation of mechanical piping, manifolds, hose assemblies, quick disconnects, and supporting infrastructure.

Interpret and implement liquid cooling design documents, ensuring alignment with mechanical, electrical, and IT infrastructure.

Work closely with vendors and contractors to manage the delivery, installation, and integration of cooling equipment.

Participate in factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), commissioning, and thermal performance validation.

Ensure adherence to safety standards, leak prevention protocols, and best practices for handling coolants and fluid management.

Support change management, field engineering adjustments, and feedback to design for continuous improvement.

Coordinate with operations to ensure successful handoff and documentation of installed systems.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of experience in data center builds, with at least 2 years focused on liquid or advanced cooling technologies.

Strong understanding of mechanical systems design, fluid dynamics, and thermal management in mission‑critical environments.

Hands‑on experience deploying liquid cooling infrastructure (e.g., CDUs, cold plates, rear‑door heat exchangers).

Familiarity with relevant standards (ASHRAE TC9.9, Uptime Institute) and environmental health/safety best practices.

Proficiency with construction coordination tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam) and mechanical layout interpretation.

Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and on‑site coordination skills.
