Overview
Define the roles and responsibilities of the Housekeeper within a long‑term care facility. The purpose is to maintain a safe, orderly and clean environment free of obstacles and odors. Essential Duties
Maintain all public and common areas throughout the day, including lobby, restrooms, drinking fountains and floors. Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and bathrooms. Clean and remove dust, dirt or food from walls, mirrors, windows, light fixtures, towel bars and dispensers. Empty trash cans and replace liners. Sweep and mop floors. Utilize proper safety measures when cleaning, including caution signage and keeping supplies and chemicals out of reach of residents. Use supplies and equipment safely by following user manual instructions. Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment and storage areas in a safe, sanitary, clean and orderly manner. Notify the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediately regarding resident safety issues or concerns. Notify when supplies need replenishment. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and positive attitude. Show excellent time‑management skills. Work independently or within a team. Qualifications
Minimum requirement: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Experience working in a long‑term care facility. Education and/or Experience: Ability to read and understand procedures, instruction manuals and directions. Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Reasoning ability to solve practical problems in variable situations. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagram or schedule instructions. Fluent in written and spoken English. Physical Demands
Occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. Regular sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, talking, reading or hearing. Use of household supplies and equipment (copier/scanner/fax, telephone, calculator). Daily use of housekeeping supplies and equipment. Work Environment
Low to moderate noise level; generally safe and clean environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
