District Winery
Position Summary
This position is designed to provide elevated wine service to our guests and to go above and beyond traditional front of house beverage operations, combining elements of sales, marketing, wine service, and hospitality. The goal is to guide the customer experience to new heights through our wine, going above and beyond traditional management duties, educating staff and guests in a friendly, approachable, fun and sophisticated environment. This position will report to the Venue Operations Manager.
Core Responsibilities Tasting Room Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the tasting room, ensuring an exceptional guest experience and smooth functioning of all activities.
Ensure the tasting room is well-maintained, clean, and properly stocked with wine, glassware, and supplies.
Manage guest flow, seating arrangements, and experiences to maximize satisfaction and sales opportunities.
Supervise, train, and motivate tasting room staff, providing guidance and ongoing development to enhance performance and customer service.
Manage staff scheduling, ensuring adequate coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback to help team members grow in their roles.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
Guest Satisfaction
Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests, answering questions, and providing detailed wine knowledge to enhance their tasting experience.
Address guest concerns and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner, ensuring guests leave with a positive impression.
Create memorable and personalized experiences for guests to encourage repeat visits and long-term customer loyalty.
Tour Program Management
Oversee and coordinate winery tours, ensuring they are informative, engaging, and consistent with the winery's brand.
Train staff to lead tours and ensure they are well-versed in the history, process, and offerings of the winery.
Manage tour schedules and collaborate with marketing to promote special tours and events.
Drive retail wine sales and upsell additional products to enhance revenue.
Promote and manage the winery’s wine club program, including sign-ups, member relations, and retention efforts.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotions and strategies to increase wine club memberships and retail sales.
Role Requirements
Proficient in operating POS (point of sale) and back-office systems - cash reconciliation, server checkouts.
Minimum of 2 years management experience in winery, room, restaurant, and/or hospitality industry.
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Wine enthusiast - a passion for wine and educating others about wine. Formal wine knowledge preferred, but not required.
Compensation
$70,000 – $80,000 per year.
