Position Purpose The Technical Advisor – Water/Wastewater plays a critical role in the Municipal Water Contract Operations (MWCO) Growth organization. Within the Customer Solutions group, the Technical Advisor works closely with business development teams to develop compelling, coherent, and competitive offers for Municipal O & M clients. This position bridges technical water/wastewater expertise with client engagement to bring best‑in‑class solutions reflecting Veolia’s “Professional Operations” standard of excellence.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Solution Design

Act as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, uncovering operational, financial, and strategic needs through dialogue and field engagement.

Collaborate with business developers to shape client‑centric solutions that align with Veolia’s Professional Operations value proposition.

Lead the development of tailored solution roadmaps, painting the partnership journey for clients over time.

Offer Structuring & Packaging

Translate client needs into structured, market‑ready offers with clear scope, KPIs, resourcing, and business models.

Work transversally with Business Development and Operations to ensure offers are comprehensive, competitive, and structured for implementation.

Serve as a subject matter expert in client meetings and proposal settings to help articulate the value story and position Veolia as a partner of choice.

Innovation & Growth

Identify opportunities to incorporate new technologies, business models, and operational innovations into client offers.

Maintain awareness of industry trends, competitor positioning, and emerging client needs.

Contribute to Veolia’s growth machine by continuously refining and standardizing offers for scalability.

Internal Collaboration

Mentor and support business developers in incorporating solutions into sales engagements.

Share best practices and contribute to building an offer library for MWCO.

Work Environment

Hybrid work environment.

Regular travel expected for client engagement and new business.

Qualifications Education / Experience / Background

Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, environmental, or process), Environmental Science, Business Administration or related field.

8–12 years of experience in municipal utility operations, water/wastewater services, engineering consulting, or related field.

Prior client‑facing experience in technical solutions, technical business consulting, or technical performance advisory roles.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Track record of successfully developing and delivering client solutions in a technical services or infrastructure context.

Strong technical background in water/wastewater process, engineering, operations, or municipal utility consulting.

Strong business acumen including financial literacy, strategic thinking, structured problem‑solving, and experience with developing business cases and KPIs.

Proven ability to structure and package differentiating service offerings for clients.

Consultative, client‑centered communication: active listening, translating needs into solutions.

Strategic thinker with ability to connect big‑picture vision to actionable plans.

Collaborative and influential, comfortable working across technical, commercial, and client‑facing teams.

Excellent presentation and storytelling skills to paint compelling solution narratives.

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.

Engineering and/or operator certification or other equivalent confirmation of technical qualifications is highly valued.
