Position Summary Babcock Power is seeking a Lead Network Administrator to design, implement, and support our secure, scalable IT infrastructure. This senior role, reporting to the Director of IT Operations, will shape our hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, mentor staff, and serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues.
Essential Responsibilities
Design, plan, and implement scalable, secure, and resilient network solutions (cloud, on-premises, hybrid).
Document network topologies, system configurations, and IT processes.
Administer and maintain Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy).
Manage virtualized infrastructure (VMware, Hyper‑V, Nutanix) for performance and uptime.
Lead incident response for global operations, providing remediation and root‑cause analysis.
Mentor IT infrastructure staff and foster a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
Complete infrastructure‑related activities that deliver new capabilities to the business.
Network Operations & Security
Configure and troubleshoot routers, switches, VLANs, VNets, secure remote access, secure internet gateway, SD‑WAN, wireless infrastructure, and firewalls.
Monitor network traffic, logs, and performance metrics to proactively resolve issues.
Implement QoS, network segmentation, and access control policies.
Manage cloud platforms (Azure IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including IAM policies and security best practices.
Partner with security teams on hardening, risk assessment, and vulnerability mitigation.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
5+ years of experience in a systems/network administration role supporting hybrid environments.
Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or a related technical field.
Advanced proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper‑V/Nutanix).
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Self‑motivated with a track record of continuous skill development.
Deep understanding of network protocols, security architecture, and systems automation.
Clear, effective communicator focusing on customer service and team collaboration.
Experience leading and mentoring IT staff.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience supporting an enterprise network and infrastructure.
Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
Hands‑on SD‑WAN deployment and optimization experience.
Certifications: Azure, Cisco, ITIL, CISSP.
This is a full‑time, in‑office position based in Marlborough, MA. The target salary is $115,000–$130,000.
