QC Microbiologist I

We are looking for a QC Microbiologist I to support manufacturing operations, ensuring timely, accurate microbiological testing and compliance with cGMP standards.
Responsibilities
Support manufacturing operations including process validation, environmental monitoring, and utility sampling.
Perform in‑house microbiological assays and environmental, water, and utility sampling procedures.
Sample raw materials as needed and coordinate shipping of samples to contract laboratories.
Review and release microbial test results in accordance with SOPs, preparing analytical reports.
Assist in writing, revising, and reviewing SOPs, ensuring compliance with compendia and equipment operation procedures.
Train other department employees in SOPs and laboratory operations.
Troubleshoot instrument problems, perform maintenance, calibration verification, and oversee preventive maintenance schedules.
Initiate and complete out‑of‑specifications, deviations, and support RAM/ELPRO databases.
Coordinate workload with manager and staff.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in microbiology, biology, or a related scientific discipline with equivalent training.
1+ years of experience in a cGMP pharmaceutical/biotechnology microbiology laboratory.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of working knowledge of cGMPs, USP, and other regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in utility monitoring (water sampling, particulate monitoring), gram staining, sub‑culturing, endotoxin testing, bioburden testing, and aseptic techniques.
Job Location & Compensation Silver Spring, Maryland. 100 % on‑site. Salary range $63,000 to $80,000 per year, plus short‑term and long‑term incentive programs.
