About the Position This position is located in the Naval Health Clinic in Pearl Harbor, HI.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

A Cost-of-Living Allowance (COLA) has been authorized for Hawaii at the rate of 8.64% (subject to change).

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Duties

Complete preliminary dental examinations using knowledge of dental and oral anatomy, physiology, histology, radiology, nutrition, and ability to maintain dental records.

Perform various advanced dental prophylaxis.

Provide therapeutic care in cases of acute gingivitis and periodontal disease around natural teeth, dental implants, and the periodontium using a variety of hand scale instruments and ultrasound equipment.

Administer local anesthesia by infiltration when authorized and credentialed with proper licensing under the direct supervision of a Dental Officer.

Perform deep scaling, root planning, and sub-gingival curettage under local anesthesia.

Take intra-oral impressions to prepare study models.

Maintain patient\'s record of treatment, recording oral conditions of the teeth and surrounding tissues, progress and therapy notes.

Interpret routine x-rays to identify tooth structures, calculus, and abnormalities.

Perform postoperative care, provide oral hygiene instructions and educate patients on daily oral home health care and administers professional fluoride treatment.

Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.

Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.

This position may be subject to a pre-employment physical examination.
