Summary:
Leads team members in assigned area or function by demonstrating and providing advanced knowledge of job responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and reference ranges for test methods and instruments. Performs quality control testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Participates in the development of new testing procedures.
Provides monitoring, coaching and evaluation of team members' performance, especially in productivity and quality management.
Assists with coordinating services, prioritizing assignments and workflow, and promoting situational decision‑making/problem solving.
Performs the job responsibilities of a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist. Takes responsibility for, or provides guidance to team members on the handling of complex or novel issues. Acts as supervisor in their absence.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must work in a fast‑paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and graduate of an accredited Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist program.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT) or as an MT or MLS by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or categorical ASCP certification in a laboratory specialty/sub‑specialty applicable to job responsibilities. State licensure if required by law.
2 years of related experience.
