Medical Assistant – Non-Certified
Join WVU Medicine as a Medical Assistant – Non-Certified. We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide basic nursing and administrative support in the care of patients.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms; obtains initial information and vital signs.
Prepares exam rooms, maintaining cleanliness and availability of supplies.
Assists or performs exams, tests, and procedures as directed by the physician or nursing staff.
Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed.
Educates patients on follow‑up expectations.
Maintains quality‑control testing logs as required.
Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition.
Assists patients with completion of medical documentation.
Performs general office administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, data entry, printing, copying, handling cash, and other closing duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or one (1) year of clinical experience.
Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Completion of a healthcare education program.
One (1) year of healthcare experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium work – can exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, up to 10 lbs constantly.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, rotate, stand, and walk for an 8‑12 hour shift.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Cooperative team setting.
Protracted or irregular hours.
Exposure to biohazards, infectious diseases, and wet hands.
Possible travel between facilities.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficient with medical equipment, printers, embossers, and computers.
Effective communication with staff and patients.
Adaptability to changing environments.
Independent and team‑oriented work style.
Organization and prioritization of tasks.
