ISNS/CANES Technician III
in San Diego, CA. Summary: Under minimal supervision, the employee provides direct technical support aboard ships of the U.S. Navy on ISNS/CANES naval systems and networks. Duties and Responsibilities
Briefs ships' crew and managers on the status of assigned tasks and/or repairs Provides On-the-Job Training to ships' crew when assessing equipment/system condition, conducting maintenance and/or making critical repairs. Uses technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot faults and casualties on a wide variety of communication equipment/systems. Provides assistance in identifying root causes for equipment/system failure to the component level. Works with a wide variety of technical documentation including technical manuals, published procedures, schematic diagrams, ship's and engineering drawings, cable run sheets, fleet and class advisory messages and industry standards to accomplish Fleet Technical Assistance (FTA) and assessment actions aboard ships of the U.S. Navy. Uses available technical documentation and test equipment to troubleshoot, adjust, align and restore to normal operation, malfunctioning equipment/systems. Serve as a system and equipment evaluator and/or inspector for major assessments such as INSURV, C5RA, and TSRA. Maintain systems including CANES, ADNS, ISNS, CENTRIXS, CND-SE Operating System Environment, NIAPS, NTCSS, HBSS, and Redhat Enterprise Linux software. Support LAN and WAN commercial off the shelf (COTS) and military systems and associated shipboard support equipment. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent Minimum 5 years of work-related experience with configuring and troubleshooting enterprise LANs. Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD SECRET security clearance Working knowledge of LINUX architecture to include the ability to conduct basic troubleshooting, software reloads, password resets, and usage of root, superuser and maintenance logins to enable/disable interfaces from nodes to management blades and servers. Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to read/interpret schematics, ship's drawings, cable run sheets and other applicable technical documentation Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to work individually or as a team member to meet time-critical deadlines Ability to make critical decisions in a time-sensitive environment while complying with policies, procedures, sound engineering principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations Effective problem-solving skills in order to isolate the root cause(s) of malfunctions and determine most effective repair course of action Preferred Qualifications
Navy A and C School for shipboard computer networks; ADNS C School Pay Range
The pay range for this role is $32.30-$39.50 Hourly. This is a reasonable estimate for this role. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
