Junior Estimator - Electrical Construction

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our team in New Windsor, New York. This role is ideal for a professional who has a background in construction or project coordination and is looking for a long‑term career path with growth into senior estimating and project management roles. The Junior Estimator will assist senior estimators and project managers with takeoffs, bid preparation, and cost analysis to support accurate and competitive project proposals.
Responsibilities
Assist in preparing detailed estimates for plan‑and‑spec, budget, and design‑build projects. Perform material and labor quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Review vendor and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and completeness. Help prepare bid submissions, scope clarifications, and pricing breakdowns. Support the estimating team in gathering vendor quotations, subcontractor pricing, and material costs. Participate in project walk‑throughs and client meetings when required. Develop a working knowledge of NEC requirements, labor units, and construction practices. Assist with project documentation and report preparation for estimating and project management teams. Learn to evaluate project risks such as location, labor availability, scheduling, and installation difficulty. Provide support to project managers with change order pricing and T&M reconciliation. Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred; trade experience or hands‑on construction background also considered. 0–4 years of experience in estimating, construction support, or project coordination. Strong math, critical‑thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); exposure to estimating/project management software a plus. Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills. Self‑starter with the ability to work independently while seeking mentorship from senior estimators. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Seniority level
