We’re working with a well-established civil engineering practice delivering transport infrastructure across the southeastern U.S. They’re seeking a technically strong Drainage/Stormwater Engineer to support roadway and drainage design for state and municipal projects, a role with client exposure, design ownership and mentoring responsibilities.

This is a hands‑on engineering position where you’ll lead drainage design tasks on transport schemes, influence technical standards, and help develop a small but growing civil team. The role is ideal for someone who wants to pair day‑to‑day design with leadership and post‑construction involvement.

Key responsibilities

Lead hydrologic and hydraulic design for roadway drainage and stormwater systems, including basin delineation, conveyance layouts and culvert design.

Produce plans, technical reports and permit packages suitable for construction and agency review.

Run H&H and system modelling using contemporary tools and workflows; interpret outputs and incorporate them into design deliverables.

Coordinate design information with multi‑disciplinary teams (Geotech, traffic, utilities) and external stakeholders.

Prepare quantity estimates, cost inputs and assist with construction phase services and review.

Mentor junior engineers and conduct routine quality checks to ensure code and client standards are met.

About you

Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).

Professional registration (PE) preferred or typically 5+ years’ relevant experience.

Comfortable with civil design packages and H&H modelling tools (examples: OpenRoads / MicroStation / Civil 3D; HEC-RAS / HY-8 / ICPR or equivalents).

Practical knowledge of regional DOT/agency plan requirements desirable.

Strong communicator able to present technical decisions to project teams and clients.

Eligible to work in the U.S. full time (no sponsorship offered for this role).

Competitive salary aligned to experience, a comprehensive benefits package, and the chance to take a technical leadership role within a busy transport practice.
