Responsibilities

Oversee decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments using Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards.

Oversee and complete preparation of all case carts as required, following local inventory standards.

Evaluate and document quality assurance program findings and coach the team toward improving regular audit outcomes, focusing on productivity standards and quality workflow metrics.

Conduct hiring, training, directing, development, and evaluation of staff.

Organizational Responsibilities

Attend and participate in department meetings and be accountable for all information shared.

Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific education within established timeframes.

Complete annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.

Maintain license/certification and registration in good standing throughout the fiscal year.

Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR) and other certifications as required by the position/department.

Consistently utilize appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patients and self.

Adhere to regulatory agency requirements, survey process, and compliance.

Comply with established organization and department policies.

Be available to work overtime and additional shifts when required.

Licensure / Certification / Registration

Required Credential(s): One or more of the following, credentialed within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (CSPA).

Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree with 1 year of experience OR 5 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
