Location
Role based in Council Bluffs, IA
Eligible candidates from metro areas around Austin or Dallas, TX; Atlanta, GA; Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, PA will be considered
Contractor will travel 90% of the time throughout the US, Canada and Mexico
Must Haves
Ability to test with OTDR
Experience in the telecom industry
3+ years experience working with MS Office (Word, Excel)
Experience with inside and outside plant (ISP and OSP)
Good to Have
Splicing experience
CD/PMD expertise
Day to Day
Work as part of a two‑person team on a project
Use a scope of work document to guide tasks
Interpret test results and provide analysis
Interface with vendors and comply with all policies
Communicate well with team members and the project manager
Receive a project assignment between Thursday and Friday and travel on Monday
Remain available for reassignment at any time
Responsibilities
Maintain project schedules
Perform fiber characterization tests using OTDR, CD/PMD, power meter/laser source and fiber end‑face testing with industry‑standard equipment
Splice or re‑splice problematic fiber strands with fusion splicers
Clean fiber end faces using multiple techniques
Provide field analysis of vendors’ fiber networks based on test data
Prepare testing packages, including redlining project documentation, indicating fiber paths and demarcation points
Deliver test reports as required by vendors
Manage field documentation for the project
Interface with vendors to remediate fiber‑path issues
Conduct site surveys to validate vendor infrastructure deliverables and any issues
Education
High School diploma or equivalent
