LCRA
At an intermediate level, trades Point to Point products in the ERCOT market and provides congestion analysis and forecast for daily generation fleet operations and congestion management of LCRA fleets in ERCOT Day Ahead Market (DAM)/Real Time (RT) markets. Assists in optimizing LCRA’s portfolio and minimizing overall costs to LCRA’s customers. Requires the ability to solve complex problems and look for creative solutions to assure LCRA delivers low-cost power to its customers. This position utilizes knowledge and market experience in own discipline but is still building higher-level knowledge and skills. Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues.
You Will Be Trusted To
Participate in the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) to acquire point-to-point (PTPs) to manage congestion risk for LCRA generation fleet.
Participate in daily generation fleet operations planning and give market insight of congestion.
When needed, help with participating congestion revenue rights (CRR) auctions to acquire CRRs in a cost-effective manner.
Observe transmission congestion and predict potential congestion in real time and day ahead to help maximize the value of the portfolio.
When needed, join the nodal market modeling team. Assist in running daily, weekly, monthly studies to simulate ERCOT markets to support trading activities in RT, DAM, CRR and forward markets.
Provide views of Transmission improvement projects that improve basis spread between LCRA’s generation and load.
Qualifications
Nine or more years of experience in ERCOT energy market or relevant experience.
A degree(s) in electrical engineering or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Experience in UPLAN or PowerWorld.
Experience in ERCOT PTP trading front desk.
