Women's Hockey Operations Director / Assistant Coach
Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Women’s Hockey Operations Director and Assistant Coach for our Division I program. The director will support the Head Coach in managing day‑to‑day operations, logistics, equipment, budget, and player development while maintaining compliance with NCAA regulations.
Job Summary Support the Division I women’s ice hockey program by coordinating operations, travel, equipment, video, budgeting, and player safety. Provide coaching, recruiting, and training support while ensuring program integrity and compliance.
Job Responsibilities
Coaching & Recruiting
Build relationships with players and provide mentorship and support.
Coach and instruct student athletes during practices and on game day in skills, fundamentals, safety, and conditioning.
Support overall physical conditioning in coordination with strength & conditioning staff.
Conduct player evaluations and develop improvement plans.
Recruiting
Assist in developing and implementing recruiting plans and maintaining databases.
Equipment & Supplies Oversight
Lead procurement strategy and vendor negotiations for equipment and apparel.
Maintain audits for compliance and fiscal responsibility.
Team Travel Logistics
Design and oversee all travel logistics, itineraries, vendors, and scheduling.
Budget Management
Manage and reconcile budget lines, approve expenditures, and ensure fiscal accountability.
Player Safety Oversight
Monitor and support player safety on and off ice.
Report concerns to coaching or medical staff.
Implement corrective measures to protect well‑being.
Liaison and Game Day Support
Key point of contact for visiting teams and officials.
Provide operational support during home events.
Video Coordination
Serve as primary video coordinator: record, organize, distribute footage, analyze with coaching staff.
Equipment Maintenance & Skate Sharpening
Oversee maintenance of protective equipment and skate sharpening.
Student Staff Supervision
Recruit, train, schedule, and evaluate 2‑5 student staff.
Professional Development & Committee Participation
Participate in professional development opportunities and serve on relevant committees.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3‑5 years in collegiate or professional ice hockey in playing, coaching, or management.
Skills:
Operational decision making and independent judgment.
Leadership in projects, budgets, or personnel.
Skate sharpening and equipment repair.
Travel logistics coordination.
Knowledge of NCAA and AHA rules.
Strong organization, time management, communication, and leadership.
Video software (Hudl, XOS, etc.).
Microsoft Office, Google Workspace.
Pre‑employment Motor Vehicle check required.
Preferred Qualifications
Video editing and tagging experience.
Experience in collegiate or professional hockey environment.
Skate profiling knowledge.
