Base pay range $100,000.00/yr - $130,000.00/yr

Kforce has a client in Scottsdale, AZ that is seeking a Backend Development Engineer for a hybrid/ onsite role. Join a fast-growing tech company revolutionizing payment infrastructure. Summary: We're partnering directly with the hiring manager to find a talented Backend Development Engineer who thrives in high-performance environments. This is your chance to help scale a secure, reliable, and mission‑critical payment processing platform that handles millions of transactions with speed and precision. This position will work 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS

Design scalable data models with MongoDB and Prisma for high-volume transaction flows

Implement Kafka-based event-driven architecture for real-time payment workflows

Integrate payment gateways, fraud detection, and compliance tools with cross-functional teams

Ensure backend systems meet top-tier standards for security, reliability, and performance

Contribute to code reviews, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement efforts

Requirements

3+ years of backend development experience in high-availability systems

Strong command of TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS

Experience with MongoDB, Prisma ORM, and Kafka or similar message brokers

Familiarity with PCI-DSS compliance and secure coding practices

Solid understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming

Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills

Bonus

Background in payment processing, banking, or financial services

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP

Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows

Understanding of distributed systems and data consistency models

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
