Lecturer – Elementary Education & Literacy Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for a renewable 10‑month, full‑time lecturer position beginning January 2026. The ideal candidate is a former educator with experience teaching or supervising pre‑service teachers in a university setting, and has experience building partnerships with K‑12 schools and coaching in a year‑long residency model.

Position Summary

Elementary residency site coordinator – 33%

Elementary residency supervisor – 27%

Teaching at least one course – 20%

Student success coaching – 15%

Additional duties – 5%

Elementary Residency Site Coordinator

Develop positive relationships with school leaders and community agencies.

Build the capacity of school sites for future resident placement.

Maintain communication and support with residents and mentor teachers.

Conduct walkthroughs of residency sites and provide feedback.

Support planning and professional growth of mentor teachers.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and the Office of Clinical Experiences and Partnerships on assessment and improvement.

Lead residency seminars.

Elementary Residency Supervision

Observe a minimum of four teacher candidates and provide coaching.

Deliver at least four one‑hour seminars on professionalism, observation feedback, and practice problems.

Support teacher candidates in collecting teaching artifacts aligned with Colorado Teacher Quality Standards.

Use observation tools such as “Look For” documents to assess and communicate growth areas.

Teaching

Teach at least one 3‑credit course each fall or spring semester.

Use trauma‑informed, equity‑based, and inclusive pedagogy.

Employ differentiated assessment methods and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Revise courses individual­ly or collaboratively and contribute to program development.

Maintain office hours to advise and support students.

Student Success Coaching

Provide individualized coaching on time management, organization, and study skills.

Demonstrate a commitment to supporting diverse students’ learning needs.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Elementary Education, Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.

Teaching experience in a K‑12 setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate, ABD, or Master’s degree in Elementary Education or related area.

Three or more years of professional experience working with elementary students, families, and communities.

Three or more years supervising students in a clinical teaching setting.

Experience collaborating with elementary schools and mentoring teacher candidates.

Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, trauma‑informed pedagogy and equity in education.

Experience with multilingual and culturally diverse students.

Salary and Benefits Salary range: $50,000 – $60,000. Benefits include medical, dental, retirement, tuition reimbursement, and a free RTD pass.
