We’re looking for a motivated Tax Preparer, Staff Accountant, or CPA to join our team and bring both technical skill and analytical insight to our clients’ financial lives.
At Edwards & Barber, CPAs, we’re a full-service public accounting firm in Visalia, providing year-round accounting, tax preparation, and tax planning services to individuals, corporations, and partnerships. We work hard during busy season, but our success comes from collaboration, communication, and genuinely caring about our clients and each other.
What You’ll Be Doing
Preparing and reviewing
individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
Performing
account reconciliations ,
journal entries , and
financial statement preparation
Analyzing client data to identify trends, planning opportunities, and areas for improvement
Working directly with clients - gathering information, explaining results, and building long-term relationships
Managing client files in
QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online
Contributing to proactive
tax planning
and helping clients make informed decisions throughout the year
Who We’re Looking For
2+ years of
public accounting and tax preparation
experience (corporate, partnership, and individual)
Strong
QuickBooks
knowledge and comfort navigating messy files
Excellent
analytical skills —you look beyond data entry to understand why things don’t tie out
Confident
communication skills , both written and verbal - you can talk through complex concepts clearly
Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
CPA license or active CPA candidate (preferred but not required)
What to Expect
Tax season is busy — really busy.
We work long hours and handle high volumes, but we do it together. Teamwork and communication keep things running smoothly.
All work is performed on-site.
We collaborate closely, and in-person teamwork is essential to our success.
Outside of tax season , things level out — offering balance, growth opportunities, and continued client work.
