The Nurse Practice Manager assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, supports research, participates in both long- and short‑term strategic planning, and assures patient advocacy. The Nurse Practice Manager is accountable to the Director, Ambulatory Operations and Director of Ambulatory Nursing Practice. The Nurse Practice Manager is responsible for the daily hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of the daily operations and clinical practice of assigned patient care areas, in order to provide quality, individualized patient care and support of Medical Center philosophies. The Nurse Practice Manager will lead staff to model a professional practice environment by providing clinically competent staff; encouraging strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication; supporting autonomy and accountability; providing staff opportunities for in‑service and formal education; stressing the importance of continuous learning; and supporting a culture where concern for the patient is paramount.
Department Overview The UC Davis Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic serves a wide variety of patients with rehabilitative needs or neuromuscular disease issues. Our patient population ranges from newborn infants to seniors, and our providers and staff strive to target and appropriately care for the specific life‑stage characteristics of each patient, as well as the physical condition that brings them to us. Specialties treated in our clinic include, but are not limited to: Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Muscular Dystrophy, ALS, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Muscular Spasticity Treatment, Post‑CVA Rehabilitation, and Electromyelogram Diagnostic Services.

Minimum Qualifications
A valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), and a Master’s degree in nursing or other related field. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree (in a field other than nursing) paired with a Masters of Science degree in Nursing is accepted.
Ambulatory care experience
Experience with PM&R specialities
At least 3 years of nursing management experience
Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area. Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
Knowledgeable and proficient in the use of health care technology within specialty area
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification of field of practice (if appropriate) NE-BC or NEA-BC certification
