Verify and keep records on outgoing shipments. Prepare items for shipment. Duties include addressing and shipping merchandise or material, arranging for transportation and completing documentation.
Responsibilities
Handle outgoing goods from production and stock
Organize “In‑Stock” items – pull and prepare for the day’s shipping orders
Coordinate “Line‑Stock” – pull and prepare for shipping as needed
Ensure stock is labeled accurately, skidded, and paperwork is complete
Make sure products are shipped according to customer specifications
Coordinate with customer service department on special shipping needs such as rush orders
Coordinate shipping through UPS, FedEx, truck lines and same‑day shipping services
Address special labeling needs
Order shipping supplies and materials such as printing labels, U‑line products, edge protectors and paper rolls through purchasing department
Prepare and complete paperwork such as bill of lading, packing slips, invoices, customer pick‑up and same‑day paperwork for local shipments
Monitor and maintain inventory records both physically and on paper; investigate discrepancies and relocate product
Keep finished product on shelf neat and organized
Examine contents and labels to verify accuracy of outgoing shipments
Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, rates and customer preference
Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements and issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials
Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools and tape
Interact with others and share in tasks as assigned to meet company and department objectives
Work with set‑up to initiate items to ship
Perform joint problem solving to rectify shipping issues
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Operate Hi‑Lo trucks and hand trucks
Effective communication and conflict resolution skills
Ability to interact effectively with various departments in the organization
Operate computer for data entry
1–3 years of relevant experience
Education High School degree.
Physical Demands Manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to production areas. The position requires wearing common protective equipment such as gloves. It may require standing for extended periods and using hands with tools. The position may require lifting objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
