Responsibilities As the Behavioral Health Charge Nurse, you will be accountable to the Department Director for the quality of nursing staff and patient care during your shift. You will assist the Director in daily operations, communicate with leadership on unanticipated events, manage staffing and scheduling, supervise and evaluate staff, and conduct performance reviews and HR activities. You will assess supplies, ensure proper use and maintenance, collaborate with other department managers for coordination of services, improve patient flow, and ensure regulatory compliance. You will interview patients/families, provide orientation, and may perform direct patient care within scope of practice to maintain safety and appropriate nurse‑patient ratios.
Qualifications
Current and valid state RN License
Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current
Previous supervisory experience preferred
Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws, Practice Standards, interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavior health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral units
Continuum of care for behavioral health care preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred
