The Safety Manager supports the senior safety manager and project team in the successful completion of construction projects. The role assists with managing safety and health processes, oversees safety documentation, and contributes to a safety‑centric culture on site. Essential Duties

Communicate effectively with project owners, insurance carriers, partners, and Hensel Phelps staff, and attend owner meetings as necessary. Enhance safety culture through executive safety charrettes and participation in the CARES (craft safety) committee. Assist the project team with safety start‑up, program development, implementation, and management; create and manage the safety budget and anticipate required supplies. Oversee the safety point file system, maintain project statistical data, and conduct safety audits. Participate in the six‑step quality control/safety process, including hazard analysis and follow‑up inspections, focusing on high‑risk activities. Provide safety training, including tailgate meetings, and assist in developing a training schedule. Lead development and implementation of the project’s SAFE program, analyze safety trends, and implement initiatives to address unsafe practices. Conduct safety audits and assist in team audits. Manage personnel evaluation and development. Minimum Education Required

High School/GED. A 4‑year degree is preferred; Occupational Safety and Health degree is suggested. Additional Qualifications / Responsibilities

Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projects. Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification. EM385‑1‑1 40‑hour certification. OSHA 30 certification. 24 hours of documented formal classroom or online training (excluding OSHA 30 or EM385‑1‑1) within the last 5 years. Valid driver’s license. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel templates, Prolog, Primavera, and Autodesk Suite. Physical Work Classification & Demands

Moderate Work. Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. The individual will walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. Frequent computer use and communication with stakeholders are required. Walking around office space to access filing cabinets and machinery. Constantly operating a computer and office equipment. Regularly communicating with employees and external stakeholders. Constantly reading written communications and reviewing blueprints. Climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights. Balancing to prevent falling while walking or standing. Stooping and bending at the waist. Visual acuity and certified vehicle operation. Occasional exposure to high and low temperatures. Frequent exposure to noisy environments and outdoor elements.
