Base pay range $67.00/hr - $115.00/hr
Redwire Space Mission LLC in San Jose, CA has a current opportunity for a Contractor - Electrical Engineer for up to 6 months. This is a hands‑on, circuit design role for a wide range of customers ranging from commercial CubeSats, larger GEO spacecraft, moon shot missions, and beyond. We are looking for someone that has a wide range of experience in PCA and PCB design, mentoring junior engineers, and planning for future projects with management and customers.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the design, build, and test of space-based electronics for multiple projects.
Proving out a design using simulation and mathematics.
Collaborating with software, mechanical and operations to bring a product from concept to production.
Act as an engineering team lead on small to medium sized projects.
Serve as a mentor to engineering design team.
Assist with developing architecture solutions with Systems Engineering and Program Management and other functional groups.
Assisting with new business development efforts by interfacing with customers and business unit teams.
Ideal Experience
Analog circuit design experience:
Experience designing isolated and non-isolated SMPS using discrete components.
Common and Differential Mode power filtering.
Active filter and amplifier design.
High Side FET drive experience with either monolithic or discrete solutions.
GaN FET experience a big plus!
BS Degree in an Engineering discipline, Electrical Engineering preferred.
Minimum 8 years of experience designing electronic circuits using CAD based programs.
Proven track record of successful product release.
Simulation experience with a Spice based tool.
Experience working with SMPS, Load Switches, Op-Amps and Comparators.
Need some experience with either microcontrollers, FPGAs, or embedded processors.
Desired Skills
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience developing power electronics products for spaceflight applications.
Demonstrated experience designing DC/DC converters, switching regulators, and power conditioning circuits using GaN FETs or similar high‑efficiency switching devices.
Proficiency with OrCAD and Allegro design tools for schematics capture and PCB layout.
Proficiency with SPICE-based simulation tools (e.g., PSPICE, LTspice) for transient and steady‑state analysis.
Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices and grounding/shielding techniques.
Experience supporting hardware test, verification, and troubleshooting at the bench and subsystem level.
Experience supporting qualification and acceptance test campaigns, including TVAC, vibration, and EMI testing.
Experience leading electronics design teams throughout the product lifecycle.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to generate clear design documentation and review materials.
Ability to distill complex technical data into digestible presentation material for customers and executive leadership.
Pay Range $67.03-$115.38 hourly
