This is a limited appointment position ending May 31, 2026. The role involves contributing to an interdisciplinary research program focused on exploring the gut‑brain axis.

Department Description The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest and most complex departments in the School of Medicine (SOM). It employs over 400 core faculty, 83 fellows, 84 residents, 31 Post Docs and non‑faculty academics, and 300 staff. The department has an annual clinical income from inpatient and outpatient activities exceeding $100 million and extramural funding over $58 million. It ranks 21st nationwide in NIH pediatric funding. The clinical enterprise is based at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital San Francisco, UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, Mount Zion, Zuckerberg San Francisco General, and multiple outreach clinics throughout Northern California.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
More than one year experience in performing mouse VMR to colorectal distension assays
More than one year experience in performing mouse behavioral assays
More than one year experience in performing mouse wireless EMG transmitter surgeries with post‑operative management
Expertise in enterochromaffin physiology
Clinical expertise in disorders of gut‑brain interaction
