Base pay range $81,000.00/yr - $247,000.00/yr

Description National Insurance Underwriting is growing our Large Property team and looking for an experienced Executive Property Underwriter to own new and renewal business across the Central Region (15 states, Minnesota to Texas). This is a production-focused role underwriting large property accounts (single-carrier and quota-share) with total insured values (TIV) of $300M+. You’ll operate with meaningful underwriting authority, apply data-driven judgment, and partner with senior brokers and internal teams to write profitable, technically sound business.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of brokers, agents, and clients in the Central Region.

Underwrite profitable large property business (single-carrier and quota-share) with TIVs of $300M+.

Analyze risk, set pricing, and bind policies within underwriting authority.

Build and maintain strong relationships with senior/market-leading brokers and key agents; proactively grow market presence and new business opportunities.

Articulate coverage differences and complex technical terms with precision to internal and external stakeholders.

Provide data-driven insights from portfolio analysis to inform business and marketing plans.

Participate in cross-functional projects to improve underwriting processes and drive excellence.

Collaborate effectively with UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, and regional/national underwriting leadership.

Maintain awareness of legal, regulatory, and case law developments affecting underwriting practice; share technical knowledge internally and externally.

Mentor, coach, and train underwriters and internal partners.

Location & schedule

Flexible within the Central Region — hybrid work model with flexibility on office location

Occasional travel to meet brokers/insureds, attend industry events, and support regional initiatives

Qualifications

Degree in Business or equivalent typically required

A minimum of 7 years expected, typically 10 years or more, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related business experience

CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred

Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility

Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives to other persons in the organization for underwriting or training purposes

Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external stakeholders

Must demonstrate comprehension of most complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows to properly manage or administer those issues

Proven track record of developing and underwriting profitable business
