Job Summary
The Extra Help Telecommunicator position requires availability for an overnight weekend shift, working Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
In This Role You Will This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Extra Help Terms Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), Extra Help positions are Part-Time, temporary opportunities (maximum of 900 hours of actual work in any consecutive 12 calendar months) available on an as-needed basis, dependent on departmental staffing needs.
NOTE: NEIU STUDENTS
Active students currently enrolled in classes at the University are NOT eligible for Extra Help positions per the NEIU Handbook on Student Employment. Students are encouraged to explore other opportunities, such as Student Aide or Work Study roles.
Job Description The
1st Watch Police Telecommunicator
supports the Northeastern Illinois University Police Department by working
overnight weekend shifts ,
Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM .
Key Responsibilities
Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency phone calls.
Dispatch appropriate police personnel and emergency services using radio communication systems.
Greet and assist visitors, including students, faculty, staff, and the general public at the station.
Monitor police radio traffic, campus security camera systems, and building alarm systems.
Log all calls for service and maintain detailed records and reports.
Assist with front desk duties and general clerical support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications
High school graduation or equivalent.

$20.00
Hours:
Saturday - Sunday, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM (OVERNIGHT - FIRST WATCH SHIFT - 16 WEEKLY HOURS)

NEIU Main Campus (5500 North St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625)
Setting:
Extra Help Telecommunicator is an on-campus position, not eligible for Hybrid or Remote work.
