As a Contractor Senior Design Engineer - Airframe, you will be responsible for providing conceptual and detail designs of primary and secondary structural aircraft components. You will work with and coordinate with a team of engineers within an assigned project on uncrewed aerial vehicles, modification of existing aircraft structures, and design-to-build activities for commercial and military aircraft. You will work with composite and metallic primary and secondary structures, mechanical system components, and electrical/avionics systems component installations.
Job Qualifications
Strong technical background in aerospace manufacturing and assembly of metallic and composite components
Experience with manufacturing Liasson / Shop support
Not handling shop tools
Proficiency in composite part detail processes, including composites stacking sequence, lamination theory, honeycomb core, bonded assemblies, and post-cure machining operations
Familiarity with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance analysis capabilities
Knowledge of ASME Y14.41 methods for Model Based Definition using CATIA V5 FTA
Experience with CATIA V5 CPD and/or FiberSIM for composite part design
Ability to create and maintain parametric product geometry models
Responsibilities
Produce airframe structural configuration layouts and detail designs
Create and maintain CAD solid models and drawings that meet all requirements
Review and check product structure and BOMs to ensure component integrity
Conduct design reviews and collaborate with other departments
Prepare presentations for program reviews
Minimum Requirements
Must be a US Citizen, Green Card Holder, or Permanent Resident
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred
Minimum of 10 years' work experience in the aerospace industry
Proficiency in CATIA V5, with a focus on Generative Surface Design, Part Design, and Assembly
Familiarity with industry standards for aerospace composite components
Experience with product data management systems such as Smarteam or Enovia LCA/PDM
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written
Strong interpersonal skills
