Role Overview Illusion Makers combine creative vision with advanced technical expertise to craft, assemble, and integrate mechanical and electrical systems, bringing imaginative concepts to life. By collaborating closely with engineering teams, these professionals support the design and installation of mock‑ups and prototypes for new or renovated attractions at various locations. This role demands deep expertise in mechanical and/or electrical trades, hands‑on proficiency, and a talent for both system design and integration.

Responsibilities

Contribute to project objectives as set by production leadership, including building, integrating, and troubleshooting sophisticated assemblies.

Collaborate directly with QC and Engineering functions to identify, correct, and mitigate deviations from assembly requirements.

Provide valuable feedback on company standards related to the design and production of assemblies.

Direct fabrication, manufacturing, integration, and troubleshooting of sophisticated assemblies.

Design and develop mechanical/electrical systems or processes, including producing drawings and documentation.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Mechanical

Experience working in collaborative, cross-disciplinary technical environments.

Knowledge of mechanical components and manufacturing processes.

Familiarity with AWS standards and welding techniques, including AWS D1.1 and D1.6.

Ability to perform machining tasks using manual and CNC tools; experience in CNC machine programming (MasterCam knowledge preferred).

Ability to use and interpret calibrated assembly and measurement equipment (such as torque wrenches and calipers).

Proficiency with engineering software tools, including SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or BIM 360.

Verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule to support global project requirements.

Electrical

Design and development of electrical assemblies and systems, including producing wiring diagrams, wiring lists, and connector schedules.

Understanding of electronic and electrical design principles.

Electro‑mechanical assembly skills.

Competence in wiring, terminating, and troubleshooting complex assemblies and systems.

Proficiency in advanced set‑up and repair using diagnostic techniques, equipment, and software.

Knowledge of UL compliance related to the product line.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with Disney.

Two years of mechanical fabrication and assembly experience, preferably in robotics, aerospace, or automotive sectors.

Two years in designing mechanical/electrical systems and mechanisms.

Two years of experience in electro‑mechanical assembly, with emphasis on wiring, terminating, repairing, or troubleshooting complex electrical assemblies and systems.

Certified welder or willingness to be certified to AWS standards.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

College or trade school degree preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

Salary The base salary for this position in California is $72,000.00–$96,500.00 based on a 40‑hour work week. Hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
