Current Opportunity We are currently seeking a

Staff Nurse

to join our Surgical Admissions department. This position is casual, with shifts/pay period varying, 8-hour shifts, Day and Evening rotation.

Note:

If you are currently in a benefit-earning position and apply for this casual position you will be decreasing your current hours to casual with no benefits.

Casual nurses are those with no regular appointed scheduled hours (no assigned FTE). Casual nurses must be available to work a minimum of two 8-hour shifts per scheduling period at straight time, with at least one weekend shift. They must also be available for two of the following holiday shifts per calendar year: New Year’s Day, MLK Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day. Holidays must be full eight or twelve hour shifts. At least one holiday must be a winter holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s).

Responsibilities Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Patient and Family Centered Care model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:

Protecting, promoting, and optimizing health

Preventing illness and injury

Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response

Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others

Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

5 years of surgical admissions RN experience

ACLS upon hire

PALS within 6 months

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in area of clinical specialty

BSN preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
