Job Description

The VP Accounting will oversee all accounting operations and will be responsible for managing, improving, and ensuring the accuracy of the company's financial reporting processes. This strategic leader will work closely with senior management to influence and shape the financial direction of the organization while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial processes, while also being a forward-thinking leader who can drive change, innovation, and improvement. The VP of Accounting will play a critical role in setting the foundation for scalable growth.

Salary

Annualized salary range: $200k-$230k (plus a bonus).

Responsibilities

Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, instilling a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration

Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Oversee the consolidation process for multiple subsidiaries operating on different accounting systems, including developing and implementing standardized processes to ensure accurate and timely consolidation of financial data across all entities

Enhance, implement, and monitor accounting policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting

Drive the development and improvement of accounting systems, processes, and workflows to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability using best practices and technology to streamline operations

Serve as the key contact for external auditors and tax consultants; oversee the preparation and timely filing of the annual audit and filing of all tax returns

Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all account processes and help develop a monthly close checklist

Provide technical accounting research and support

Collaboration with various departments, including operations, marketing, and HR, to gather relevant data and insights for financial analysis

Communicate financial insights in a clear and concise manner, facilitating informed decision-making

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or MBA preferred

Minimum 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role

Experience in a mid-sized or large organization is a plus

Strong knowledge of GAAP, including consolidations of multi-entity businesses and financial statement preparation including eliminations and investment in subsidiary accounting

Experience with ERP systems (Workday preferred) and advanced Excel skills

Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team, managing cross-functional projects, and influencing organization strategy at the executive level

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex financial situations and offer effective solutions

Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Experience preferably within the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industry
